House rules

*Absolutely no smoking of cannabis* We hope you are thrilled by your stay here in the Maple Ridge Cabin at Panther’s Rest Farm. Please treat it like it is yours, and we will take care of the rest. The area immediately around the cabin “should” be mosquito and tick free, but no promises. Bring bug spray if you wish to do much exploring. We have lots of trails and direct access to the national forest.

Accessibility

Neighborhood

We are in the country! There is a small grocery store, a few small restaurants, and two gas stations 10 minutes away in Goreville. For all of the normal chain stores you will need to go to Marion or Anna, either is about 20-25 minutes.

Guest Access

You may visit around the 52 acre property, however, be mindful of other guests, the host family, and animals.

We had a fantastic stay at this cozy little cabin in the woods. This was our second time staying at Keith’s cabin because we just love it so much! It’s peaceful, beautifully maintained, and perfect for a quiet escape. The fire pit was a great touch—ideal for relaxing evenings under the stars. Keith is a great host! Highly recommend!

Keith’s cabin was fantastic. It was a perfect place to come back to after a days hiking in the area. It is very private in a beautiful woodsy setting. We would definitely stay here again.

The beautiful location in Shawnee national Forest was five out of five stars in my book. The helpful recommendations from not only the host and the previous people that have stayed there, really helped and set the pace for what we did highly recommend the canoe and kayak rentals not too far down the road. Overall, the place was beautiful and so was the location.

This is a wonderful spot! Peaceful, relaxing, and beautiful surroundings. There’s tons of amazing hiking trails and parks within close distance! The delicious coffee roasted on the farm is also a major plus. Overall, Keith was a great host and very accommodating. Not related to the listing specifically, but make sure you bring bug spray. There are lots of ticks in this part of Illinois. I appreciated Keith’s warning on this as well. I would definitely stay here again!

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay with Keith in the cabin—quiet, peaceful, restful. The bed upstairs was comfortable and clean, the kitchen was fully equipped, the cabin itself spacious and cozy. We spent a lot of time on the porch watching the woods or sitting out back with the fire pit. They kindly left skewers for us and we made some s’mores. Our fur baby loved all the outdoor space to roam. We went for many hikes and drives around the area. Keith was such a thoughtful host that there was nothing we lacked. We would love to return in the fall!

We had an lovely, but eventful stay at Keith and Becky’s! Keith let us check in early due to severe storms in the area, and when the tornado warning came through, Keith offered his home to us as shelter until the warning passed. We were all safe but with no power until the morning. That was no problem for us, as we lit some candles and opened up the windows and listened to the rain outside all night while we slept. It was the perfect ending to our girls trip in southern Illinois. Keith was very responsive at all times and made sure we had the best and safest stay possible! The location is beautiful, and we will absolutely be back!

We loved it, such a beautiful property. Completely isolated like we wanted. And we were happy to see that the toilet was not a composting toilet. Great fresh roasted coffee too! And being minutes from the winery was perfect for the end of day meal. Thanks Keith!

I travel often and use Airbnb frequently; Keith’s property was one of the best places my family and I have stayed in. The cabin was comfortable, stocked with everything we needed to make meals, and had many small touches that showed they care about making guests feel at home. Keith was also super responsive and helpful when we had questions. We loved spending time here as a family and will definitely be back!

This little cottage was a perfect little get away for my partner and I. Winery's near by, waterfalls to hike to and the overview was beautiful. We want to come back and visit during each season. Thank you for such great host. Your dogs were very well behaved and very friendly. We enjoyed them very much.

This cabin was very cozy. No TV and no WiFi made it very nice to be disconnected from the outside world. It was very peaceful outside, the moon was very bright as there is no light pollution from buildings! We got the privilege of getting visited by the 2 farm doggies (very friendly). The staircase is extremely steep, so if you’re not very balanced it might be hard to get up and down. We had to carry our 60 lbs dog up and down since she wasn’t able to climb d/t the steepness. Only thing I would change would be the shower floor liner as some water would overflow to the rest of the bathroom. Otherwise everything was awesome and Keith was very open to help and kind. Totally recommend for a weekend get away!!
