House Rules

*Absolutely no smoking of cannabis* We hope you are thrilled by your stay here in the Maple Ridge Cabin at Panther’s Rest Farm. Please treat it like it is yours, and we will take care of the rest. The area immediately around the cabin “should” be mosquito and tick free, but no promises. Bring bug spray if you wish to do much exploring. We have lots of trails and direct access to the national forest.

Accessibility

Neighborhood

We are in the country! There is a small grocery store, a few small restaurants, and two gas stations 10 minutes away in Goreville. For all of the normal chain stores you will need to go to Marion or Anna, either is about 20-25 minutes.

Guest Access

You may visit around the 52 acre property, however, be mindful of other guests, the host family, and animals.

The cabin is tucked into the woods. Clean, cute, comfortable. Host’s description on point, particularly pay attention to description about the steep stairs—it is accurate. We are in our 70s and in good shape and navigated them fine. Bed is comfortable, temperature is comfortable, as well as furniture. We enjoyed our 1 night stay and so did our 2 labs. Host kept us very well informed.

Such a serene, private little cabin. There are no other cabins within sight and we felt totally secluded. Fantastic for those with dogs - mine really loved running around in the woods. The humans enjoyed the fire pit, the extremely functional kitchen, and of course the COFFEE! We even swung by the self-service shop to get additional bags. I’ll definitely be back if in the area again.

Had a lovely stay at the cabin, the very flexible check in and check out was so nice as we had so road bumps on our trip and so getting the flexibility was so appreciated. Very cute cabin in a lovely forest. Would come back, thank you guys!

It was such a peaceful and comfortable time aside from the fast pace of life. The cabin is fantastic, clean, and very secluded. Keith was a great host and made all processes simple and straightforward. Giant city State Park was a great place to hike and the restaurant there is incredible. Garden of the Gods was worth the hour ish drive. Makanda is a cute little town with a hippie boardwalk where they have an abundance of artisan goods.

This was such a lovely peaceful and kind place. I think it’s lovely that they welcome our little furry family members as well. I hope to come back one day. Their coffee is great!

As soon as I got into the area I felt at peace. The cabin itself is well built and very clean! The host is very responsive and answered any questions I had. The local winery only a few minutes drive was great and I bought a few bottles of wine and a pizza to-go to enjoy while the sun set through the woods around the cabin. The local vibe is very friendly and laid back. I’d love to stay again, next time a couple more nights so I can explore the nearby trails and forest.

We had a fantastic stay at this private cabin in the woods. It was wonderfully relaxing to sit on the porch listening to only the sounds of the forest. We would highly recommend this stay for anyone looking to get away from hustle and bustle of daily life. Our hosts were very accommodating to our special requests and we appreciated the prompt, friendly, and thorough communication. We plan to book for another stay-cation in the future!

We had a fantastic stay at this cozy little cabin in the woods. This was our second time staying at Keith’s cabin because we just love it so much! It’s peaceful, beautifully maintained, and perfect for a quiet escape. The fire pit was a great touch—ideal for relaxing evenings under the stars. Keith is a great host! Highly recommend!

Keith’s cabin was fantastic. It was a perfect place to come back to after a days hiking in the area. It is very private in a beautiful woodsy setting. We would definitely stay here again.

The beautiful location in Shawnee national Forest was five out of five stars in my book. The helpful recommendations from not only the host and the previous people that have stayed there, really helped and set the pace for what we did highly recommend the canoe and kayak rentals not too far down the road. Overall, the place was beautiful and so was the location.
